ORDER MADE!! Series

This series is among Tanaami’s earliest works incorporating a Pop Art influence. It features a vibrant assortment of striped jackets and ties, superimposed with plastic hangers and the words ORDER MADE!! in various combinations, producing a wide array of variations. The repetitive depiction of mass-produced clothing, coupled with the paradoxical title “order made” (i.e., custom made), introduces a layer of irony toward materialist culture that is characteristic of Tanaami’s approach. While faint and difficult to make out, illustrations of fighter planes appear in some works, blending imagery of pop culture and war in a manner that was to become common practice for Tanaami. The printing plate for the fighter plane was also used the same year for the poster American Dream Is Over (cat. 1-41).
