Youshi Kei (Infantile Landscape) (Prologue)

In his Youshi Kei (Infantile Landscape) series, Tanaami explores primal experiences that profoundly impacted him. The work consists of seven sequences, incorporating multiple printed images from his childhood integrated with elements from his films. Clips from Hollywood movies, wartime newsreels, and Tanaami’s own films depicting wartime memories are interwoven, creating a layered interaction between his deeply personal past and the present. Tanaami says he feels there is something crucial concealed in his past that he must revisit, and has continued this process of revisiting and reevaluating his memories from the standpoint of an observer.
